weeknotes for w/c 09/12/24

hello! this is an incredibly, upsettingly late post. last week was a horrid whirlwind, with me leaving Monzo (surprise!), but i'm getting through it.

• lost my phone, so thought of a low-power device with an e-ink screen, designed to offer public transport directions. a button press would geo-locate the handheld and then display a map with the current date and time, the nearest public transportation stops and the services stopping at them and the time they'll arrive
  • got a new phone on Tuesday, and got it all set up. i got a new clear phone case. i don't like the clear case, as it'll yellow over time because of exposure to UV light but there aren't many other cost-effective cases available for an iPhone 12 Pro Max 📱
• went to the London Night Cafe again with two friends on Monday night, got back home about ~0430 🌃
• left Monzo on Tuesday, but i strangely didn't feel so bad. i might even dedicate a chapter to it in my tell-all autobiography, coming soon to anywhere that sells books 🤓
  • it's a shame, as i was excited for the job and it was a chance to turn over a new leaf. alas, some things are not meant to be
  • i have a really solid support network, which i'm incredibly grateful for. it means i've been feeling pretty positive about the whole affair, despite how traumatic it's been
  • passively applied for a few jobs, and met with a recruiter for a drink on Wednesday. it's a little hard, given it's around Christmas time, but i'll pick up the job search in earnest in the New Year.
  • i might go through my emails and collect data for a job hunt Sankey diagram
• the market's not looking too good, but something will come... i'm sure... maybe... ohgodwhatifimunemployedforever???
• went to an event about relational campaigning for progressive causes, which was pretty good. also went to Newspeak House for Ration Club, where one of the fellows made vegetarian sushi and inside out sushi rolls 🗳️
• went to the Newspeak House Christmas party on Thursday 🎄
• friend came to visit from Thursday evening to Sunday evening 🤗
  • introduced him to Utopia and he quite liked it! it's my new favourite show for now
  • got some groceries delivered from Iceland!
  • got soul food from the bossman at the chicken shop up the road, was really good and just what i needed, i think
  • he gifted me a copy of The Scarfolk Annual! i'm not a big Christmas person, but i really appreciated the gift
• did some confirmation statement filings, paperwork makes me happy 📎
